Saturday, February 23, 2013 - 8:15 am start time (eastern - about 15 minutes after the start of the half marathon)

RRCA State Championship.RRCA State Championship Race

The 2013 Scenic City 5k has been designated as the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) State Championship Event for Tennessee. State Championship plaques will be awarded to top overall, master, grandmaster, and senior grandmaster male and female 5k winners.

5k Run & Walk Entry Fees

$5.00 of each registration fee will go to the participant’s selected Charity as part of the Charity Challenge.

5k participants will receive a cotton race t-shirt.

Registration

Registration closed at 11:59pm on Wednesday Feb. 20, 2013.

Registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable.

No Race Day Registration

There will be no registration allowed at packet pick up the night before the race or the morning of the race.

Packet Pickup

Packets, including your bib number, timing chip, and technical shirt can be picked up:

New this year: Runners must bring an offical photo ID and Active.com confirmation number to packet pick up. Runners may not pick up a packet for another runner.

Race Course

With the start/finish at Finley Stadium, the 5k run & walk will be run as an out and back course along Riverfront Parkway.

Start Rules

Aid Station

An aid station containing water and sports drinks will be available at the turnaround of the 5K race at approximately 1.5 miles.

Race Timing

The race will utilize IPICO timing chips that will be affixed to each racer’s shoe laces. Each runner will also receive a bib number to be worn during the race. The tear off strip on the bottom of the bib will be available as a backup to the timing system.

Runners will receive both a gun time and chip or net time. Overall awards are based on gun times. Age group awards are based on chip or net time.

Results will be posted on this site as well as ChattanoogaTrackClub.org.

Awards

Awards will be given to the overall male and female winners, as well as the male and female masters (40+) and grandmasters (50+) winners. Awards will also be given to the top two finishers, both male and female, in the following age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65 & Over. All awards will be based on “gun times”. No duplicate awards.

Litespeed Bike Giveaway

Local bike manufacturer American Bicycle Group (makers of Litespeed and Quintana Roo bicycles) will give away a Litespeed C1 at the awards ceremony. Any Chattanooga Track Club (CTC) member who registered for the half marathon or 5k before January 31, 2013 is eligible for the bike giveaway.

Safety

Bicycles, skateboards, baby strollers/joggers, roller skates, and animals are not allowed in the race. Headphones are strongly discouraged.

On average, Chattanooga's temperature on February 23rd ranges from a low of 36 degrees to a high of 57 degrees. The record high for February 23rd is 78 degrees (1982) while the record low is 12 degrees (1963).
